Principles of mobile computing
Part of the National Library of Medicine's Biomedical Informatics course at the Marine Biology Laboratory. Topics will include:
- the three unique aspects of handheld computers (mobility, synchronization and beaming). This gives the students enough information to make an informed decision about whether or not to use PDAs in their institution
- three case studies, the first of which shows a PDA deployment failure. This introduces the students to the kind of workflow that benefits from PDAs, and the issues for successful deployment
- Q&A and discussion.
