Handheld computers for informationists

The Informationist Service is a “librarian-in-context” service provided by professional biomedical librarians that extends beyond the basic information services provided to all NIH staff. An Informationist combines expertise in information science with biomedical subject knowledge to provide expert, timely information services tailored to fulfill the needs of specific NIH clinical and research teams.
A Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) is a computer small enough to hold in your hand and fit into your pocket. This means it is ideal for clinical workflow and there are plenty of useful resources for health professionals. This lecture will focus on those that were developed by NIH and those that are particularly suitable to NIH staff.
