Chapter 5
Taking lecture notes
Excerpt from the book....
Lectures are the process by which a speaker's notes become the student's notes, without passing through either's brain. With a handheld, it is now easy to transfer these notes to other students, also bypassing the brain. As ever, you have a wide choice.
Memo or Notes
The Memo is great for little scribbles. As I mentioned in Chapter 4, I used the program extensively for ward rounds. I also wrote down lists I picked up from various sources, such as the ten diseases against which smoking protects, provided by a conspiratorial respiratory physician. Finally, I wrote down my examination sequences for all the systems, so I could quiz myself after I had seen patients. My learning curve improved rapidly after this because there was no longer a separation between what I needed to do in an examination, and what I actually remembered to do. Best of all, the Memo comes free with your handheld.

Nevertheless it does have its limitations. The length of each note is only a few screens, which will not last you a whole lecture. Moreover, the closest thing to a heading possible is writing in capitals.
