At a recent conference, I heard an interesting figure. Apparently, for every dollar spent on buying new computer equipment and software, eight dollars are spent on training the clinicians. Do not be scared of this. The point is that training should be an important part of your plan. In fact, one of the best reasons for choosing handheld technology is how easy the machines are to use. Nevertheless, as project champion, you must budget time, money and effort towards training to get the full value out of your team's investment.

The first step is to convince your colleagues that the training is a good use of their time. However, the next step is to make sure that the training actually is a good use of everyone's time.
